About the Band
Barrett's Privateers are an acapella group from Cornwall's Tamar Valley who captivate audiences with rich harmonies and a diverse repertoire spanning sea shanties, folk, and Cornish and mining songs. Formed since 2019 through the joy of singing together in the fantastic local pubs of the Tamar Valley — from Launceston to Cargreen — they have grown into one of the most exciting live acts in the South West.
Their festival credentials are formidable. They have performed at the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, Rock Oyster Festival alongside Nile Rogers and Chic, the prestigious Canterbury Festival, and represented Cornwall at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany — performing alongside seven other Celtic nations to stadium audiences of up to 10,000 people each night. They have also recorded two albums.
Barrett's Privateers bring a night of rousing sea shanties, traditional folk and Cornish songs to The Meadows — and now they're ready for their biggest Launceston gig yet. Expect a high energy performance packed with powerful harmonies.
