About the Band

Cornish Folk Rock Harmony is probably the closest description for what The Countrymen do — five seasoned musicians with tight four-part harmony vocals and a token Cornishman, taking audiences on a journey through the history and culture of Cornwall. With a relaxed, light-hearted presentation style, there is no mistaking that to a man, they love their county with a passion.

Their sets feature their own arrangements of traditional and contemporary Cornish songs, an increasing number of original compositions, and the occasional well-placed pop cover to keep things lively. The band was formed at The Countryman Inn near Launceston — which is exactly where their name comes from.

The Countrymen have performed at some of the UK's finest festivals including Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, Looe Saves The Day, Little Orchard Cider Festival, Falmouth Oyster Festival, Falmouth Week and headlined at Bridport Folk Festival. In 2024 they performed at Bie Daip in Appingedam in the Netherlands — Europe's largest folk and sea song festival — and were flown to Wisconsin, USA for a concert at the Mineral Point Opera House. 2026 is looking to be another international year.

Their recordings include the Cornish Lads EP series (Volumes 1, 2 and 3) and two full albums — Trees on the Hill and The River Rolls On — all available on CD and streaming platforms.
